STILL IMAGES http://www.konejung.de/Blog/Still_Images/Seiten/Lost_Places.html Seit einigen Jahren fotografiere ich bei den Stiftungsprojekten zur europäischen Vergangenheit düstere Orte, an denen sich furchtbare Dinge ereigneten, die sich heute nur noch Insidern offenbaren - zu idyllisch sind diese Plätze wieder geworden, wenn sie nicht gerade von mehr oder weniger martialischen Denkmälern als historische Landmarke bestimmt wurden. Wenn wir also über Europa lästern, sollten wir uns immer vorhalten, dass der Begriff „Friede“ über Jahrhunderte ein Fremdwort war. Ohne die schrecklichen Erfahrungen würden wir sicher schon wieder nach Kanonen rufen, aber wer weiß wie lange die Mahnung noch ausreicht. Die hier gezeigten Bilder wurden an der Somme in Nordfrankreich aufgenommen, von 1916 bis 1918 Schauplatz verheerender Materialschlachten des Ersten Weltkriegs. Literarische Zeugnisse finden sich vor allem in den Gedichten britischer Kriegsdichter wie Siegfried Sassoon und Wilfred Owen, sowie in Büchern und Aufzeichnungen des deutschen Schriftstellers Ernst Jünger.
